Town (on the) TV

As the season approaches, I know my thoughts turned to how am I going to watch Town matches this season?  TownTV, while it still has content I’ve decided to continue paying for.  But there won’t be any live matches available there.  Promotion to the Premier League has changed that.  In the US, Canada, & Mexico, the rights to all Top Flights matches have been sold and are available in one form or another.

Yes, there are other options which may cross the line of legality, but you can find that information elsewhere.  I’m going to list the way the Premier League wants you to watch matches.

We’ll start with the US.  NBC has owned the rights to all Premier League matches for more than 10 seasons now.  Every weekend, there will be multiple matches on NBC, USA Network, or CNBC. If Town are not on one of the broadcast/cable channels, every match is on their Peacock App.  The one frustration is that if the match is on NBC, USA or CNBC, the match won’t be live on Peacock*.   NBC matches will be available to stream on Peacock right after the match.  USA and CNBC matches won’t be available on Peacock until the next day.

As for the FA Cup in the US, ESPN just extended their rights agreement.  All Town’s FA Cup matches will again be on ESPN+ just like they’ve been the last several years.  Additionally, the Carabao Cup is also owned by ESPN and will be available on ESPN+.

In Canada it’s a very different setup.  FuboTV owns the Premier League rights.  FuboTV is like having a cable package in an app so there are different packages you can select from.  All league matches will be available here.

The FA Cup in Canada is available on Sportsnet.  I believe that’s a cable channel (or a series of them) and an app.  Additionally, the Carabao Cup rights are owned by DAZN, so there’s another app for you.

In Mexico, things are easiest as both the Premier League and FA Cup matches are available on MAX.  However, some matches will be selected for TNT.  ESPN Sur carries Carabao Cup matches in Mexico and Central America

Now that you know how to watch Town, what are you looking forward to this season?  What worries you the most?  C’mon you Blues!!

*it does appear that at least some matches will be live on Peacock even if they are televised on other networks, but they will be on the Spanish-commentary channels.
